January 2014 Prayer Letter

2013 was an exciting year for us as we started the year in the States for a short furlough and then returned to China at the end of March to begin our first church. We have labour throughout the year to plant the seeds of the church and see souls reached with the gospel. As we realize all the God has done over the past year, it is encouraging to think about what he is going to do in the future.

Christmas Outreach: With the help of the church and interns, we were able to host a Christmas activity last month in which 50 or so people attended. We had some snacks, played different games and gave a gospel presentation at the end to all that came. Also, because of the giving of many, we were able to give everyone a new Bible as a Christmas present.

Church: We held our first church service on April 7, 2013. The church will be nine months old this month and it is still very much in its infant stages. We started the church with my family and a couple of contacts that we made before our furlough. It has been a roller coaster of a year. We would have high days and low days. We tried different church service times and many different ways of outreach. There were some people saved, some people baptized, and some people grew in their Bible knowledge and understanding. Praise the Lord! We are thankful for the small start that we have and we are hoping to continue to move forward this year.

Bible Study: We held our first Bible Study in a new area on October 13, 2013. The Bible study really took off from the beginning and has been well attended every week with people coming to learn about the gospel as we work through the Gospel of John. The main difference between the Bible Study and the Church is the people who attend the Bible Study are no yet Christians, whereas the majority of those who attend the Church service already have become Christians. Please pray that we will see many confess Jesus Christ as Lord this year!

Interns: We have two interns that have been working with us since the beginning of December. They have been a huge blessing and have a heart for the work. We are going to hate seeing them leave later this month to return to Australia. We are praying to see fruit from their laborers.

Thank you for being a part of our team, Project China, with your prayers and financial support!

(P.S. We found out we are expecting baby #4! It should be here sometime in July!)
