Weekly Mind Dump: Happy Birthday!

✪ Happy Birthday to Dalian Gospel Baptist Church! The church held its’ first service last year April 7, 2013. Time is going by so quick. It is crazy to think of all the things we have been through over the past year. Glory be to God!

✪ Not only did Gospel have a birthday but Dalian Grace Baptist Church had its’ first service last Sunday April 6, 2014. It was a great service. We first had Sunday school where two of the guys taught two classes (one for believers and one for unbelievers) and then we had our main worship service.

✪ We are trying to be faithful in all the God has given us the opportunity to do here in China. We know that doors can open and close at anytime, so we are trying to be faithful with what we have been given today! Pray for us and each of these churches as they desire to grow, know the Lord Jesus more, and reach this city with the gospel!

✪ Recently Read: The Treasure Principle: Discovering the Secret of Joyful Giving (LifeChange Books) – I appreciate the emphasis on Christian Stewardship and the Treasure Principle: “You can’t take it with you— but you can send it on ahead.” I think understanding these basic truths from Scripture can really cause a paradigm shift in how we view our relationship with God, us and money. The treasure principle keys presented in the book are great principles for all Christians who are looking to be better stewards of all that God has given them. From the book: “A steward manages assets for the owner’s benefit. The steward carries no sense of entitlement to the assets he manages . It’s his job to find out what the owner wants done with his assets, then carry out his will.[1]

✪ Recently Read: Christian Stewardship – The first part of the booklet was helpful as it touched on the main Scriptures that are often used in Christians stewardship. From the book: “We do not interrupt the worship in a service in order to give an offering of tithes and gifts. This giving is worship also.[2]

✪ Past Post: Furlough: Reentry 2012 – Small areas that I have noted as “culture shock” for me returning to the States.

✪ It looks like we will try to do something for Easter. It came upon is quickly and we haven’t prepared properly, but we are still going to try to do some kind of outreach. Pray for this!

✪ Keep praying for a souls to be saved. Specifically, pray for a man named James. He is a young guy in his 20’s and I am studying the Bible with him weekly. He is very interested and has been asking tons of questions. Also, there are some other young men who are on the verge as well.

✪ We are excited about our “Yokefellows” from our sending church coming over to China this summer and spending several weeks here. They were coming over on the VisonTour and because their work has offices here in the city they are able to come over and stay for a longer amount of time!
