July 2015 Prayer Letter

Summer is here, God is working, our family is growing, and we are thankful to be serving King Jesus.

We have come to the end of out 10-week Bible studies and, as a result, one person has been saved. The man who was saved was invited to an English corner by the intern who is working here. Another man in our church met him at the English corner and invited him to study the Bible with him for ten weeks in Chinese. Over the weeks, his interest and understanding grew until He made a decision to believe in Jesus as his Lord and Saviour. Just this past week, he stood up in our church and gave testimony to the fact the he is now a Christian because He believes in Jesus alone as the way of salvation. That afternoon, the church walked down to the Oceanside where this man was baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Praise the Lord for another soul saved.

All the other 10-week Bible studies, including my own, didn’t turn out as we hoped. But we are thankful for the joint push that succeeded in giving the gospel to more lost people, planting seeds for a future harvest and seeing at least one saved.

With the summer months have come a few setbacks. We have lost a couple of church members due to them moving to others cities for work. Nice weather means several are traveling so we will be stopping a couple of our outreach ministries until the fall (giving us a break from such a busy schedule as well). Also, two of the young men who were taking seminary classes with me had to stop to focus more on their studies at the universities.

Another recent change we made was moving the English worship service on Sunday night to our house as a small group targeting Chinese families. This has been successful so far. It has allowed us to invite unbelievers in a setting that is more personable, using English as a draw but having the lessons also in Chinese to make sure everything is understood. Pray for the salvation of those coming.

Thank you! We know that we couldn’t do anything without the help of God’s people. Thank you for giving, praying, and being a part of our team, Project China.
