Solomon, the wisest man in the world, also had a high view of the LORD God. In his prayer of dedication for the temple he mentions many things about God that just makes you think of how big and great our God is. Here are some that I read this morning:

  • He Always Keeps His Word (vs. 10) – You never have to worry about God not coming through and not keeping His word. He always keeps His promises and preforms his word!
  • There is no God like Him (vs. 14) – In all of heaven and earth there is none other like Him. He is the one and only God!
  • The heavens cannot contain Him (vs. 18) – The heavens and the heaven of the heavens cannot contain him: ho much less the house which Solomon built!
  • He has the power to forgive sin (vs. 21, 25) – Not only is He Himself sinless, but he has the power to forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
  • He has power over the elements (vs. 26, 28) – He can cause it to rain or he can hold the rain back. He has power over the elements because He is the creator of the elements!
  • He knows our hearts (vs. 30) – God knows our hearts. He knows how we feel and what we are thinking. No one else may know but God does. It is a scary thought at first because we can keep no secrets from God.
  • He has an stretched out arm (vs 32-33) – He is willing to show mercy on the children of Israel and the stranger, that all the people of the earth may know His great name.
