In 1 Samuel 5 we find that the Philistines took the ark of God and put it in the house of Dagon and set it by Dagon. Dagon was the god of the Ashdod people. But when they woke up in the morning they found that Dagon was fallen upon his face to the earth before the ark of the Lord. So what do they do? They set him back up. The next morning comes and they find him fallen over again, but this time his head and the palms of his hands were cut off and there was nothing left but the stump of Dagon. The priest of Dagon and the people of Ashdod finally realize after that and a few other things that the hand of the Lord was heavy upon them in a bad way. Then, instead of repenting of their wickedness and turning to the true God, they send the ark of the Lord out of their presence.
So it comes down to this, when you compare the LORD to any other god, the end result is you are going to be left with a stump. And as we go to China we aren’t going to be afraid to compare the one true God against the “gods” of Confucianism, Buddhism, Taoism, and other Chinese “isms,” because when you compare God vs the stump, God is always going to win. Pray with us that we can see hundreds, thousands, millions of Chinese people repent of their sins and put their faith in Jesus Christ.
