The “it” is Proverbs 30:5-6. Why? Well read the verse:
“Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.” Proverbs 30:5-6 (KJB)
I was thinking about this last night and when I read it this morning in my devos it caused me to tremble a little more. You see I am a preacher of this Book, the Bible. I want to be found faithful in preaching this Book and preaching it correctly. I want to say exactly what it says. I don’t want to impose my own views and agenda on it. Every word of it is pure! I do not want to add to it in any way, shape, or form. This is the reason I tremble, because I have the responsibility to open up this Book, read what it says and communicate exactly what it says to others. I tremble because if I add anything to it, I would be found a liar instead of a preacher.
God, may I tremble every time I open this Book and read it. May I tremble every time I stand before your people and preach it. Lord, give me grace to correctly, accurately, and boldly proclaim your Word.
